Dec. 27, 2017

Check back in the spring to see if the class be held. I am currently seeking out funding sources so the class can continue to be free to all participants.

Sept., 2016
Check back in the spring to find out the dates for Summer of 2017. This year the summer class will have a totally different theme so last year's class will be different from this summer's class. There were so many students who wanted to take the class again, that it seemed necessary to make the topic change. It will still be STEM focused. We will be learning about Space instead of bridges. I am already looking forward to this camp.

The notes will go home next week. See the file for the dates. I will accept these forms the day after I hand out the forms to the kids and/or teachers.

March 25, 2016
I will send home notes with students in late April or early May, once Night of the Notables is done. I haven't heard if my grant application was approved so that I could hold the class and have transportation provided for the students to/from class.

April, 2015
The class will be similar to last year's class. This year I will have two sections of the same class. One will be June 8-12 from 9:00-11:00. The other section will be June 15-19 from 9:00-11:00. The class is designed for current second graders and current third graders. Students can be in either session. The class is free to students. Transportation within the Camanche School District borders is provided for free thanks to a grant I obtained.
Please contact me for a registration form. The class filled up quickly last year.

I was awarded a grant to offer Engineering is Elementary summer classes again. Free transportation will be provided within the Camanche School District boundaries. The class will be free for the participants. I will have two one week classes. The classes will meet in the morning in my classroom. It will probably be 9-11:00. The dates will be finalized closer to May once I know what my children's summer schedules are like. I will send home notes with the kids and sign up will be on a first come/first serve basis. Class sizes are limited. Last year, the class filled up quickly.

I hope to offer this class again in summer of 2015. It will depend on whether I apply for and receive another grant to offset the cost of materials. Possibly free transportation will be available again depending on the grant. The dates and fees for the class will be set by mid-May. This class filled very quickly last year.

Engineering is Elementary Summer Camp for students who' have a few days left of 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade. The first graders would need to be very good learners due to the nature of the class. If a third grader was a Jr. Lego Leaguer, some of the class would be familar but quite a bit of the class is new. A third grader could be in this class and in the Summer Lego Engineering Class as the class content is not the same at all.

This camp is for students who like to build with legos and other small items. We will be exploring the principles of bridge design and learning about 6 simple machines, such as levers and ramps, in a hands on way. This class is recommended for students who are interested in Jr. Lego League. Class meets in Mrs. Kennedy’s classroom June 16-20 from 9-11:30. Class sizes are limited. Cost: FREE!!

Due to a grant Sheryl obtained, the class will be free to Camanche students and transportation within the Camanche School District will be provided upon request.

The application form is available here and at school. Classroom teachers in grades 1-3 have the applications also. There will be a notice in the school Thursday newletter. Class size is limited.

Here is the application. Download and return to Sheryl Kennedy at school.

This camp is FULL. Sorry, no more applications are being accepted. I am thrilled with the interest and next spring will try to obtain that grant again and, perhaps, enough funding for 2 sessions.
